bones created this website to park some content for a time.
This started as a way to secure a Bluesky handle then expanded to a larger quest. Customizing this domain to prove we're real. You'd think making a website would be easier! But, somehow, it's still a nightmare. There are easier ways to make a website, sure. But that's not this site.
About
A nerd with a passion for news, screaming endlessly into the void, and seeing how far we can take the bit.
Contact
Any and all contact is unwarranted, unwanted and will not be accepted. Is this even a real place?
Links
These are links to other places on the internet that I think are worthwhile ...
- Internet Roadtrip - travel on an internet roadtrip across the USA in your browser (honk!)
- More Smiles, More Money - a primer on why labor needs to use their collective force to act
- IMG_0001 - between 2009 and 2012, iPhones had a built-in "Send to YouTube" button in the Photos app. Many of these uploads kept their default IMG_XXXX filenames, creating a time capsule of raw, unedited moments from random lives. Inspired by Ben Wallace, he made a bot that crawled YouTube and found 5 million of these videos! It's incredible, check it out.
- A Really Cool Bloglist - a collection of really cool blogs I stumbled across online.
- Getty Museum Collection - a collection of open artwork from Getty, available for search and download.
- National Gallery of Art Collection - a collection of open artwork from the National Gallery, available for search and download.
- The Met Collection - a collection of open artwork from The Met, available for search and download.
- Rijksmuseum Collection - a collection of open artwork from Rijksmuseum, available for search and download.
- Random Forest Sounds - tune into a random forest from around the world. Touch a little bit of grass from where ever you are.
- Kittens & Cats - cats and captions before the internet age.
- Train Jazz - Every dot is a real subway train. Eight hundred of them, give or take, form a small jazz combo (walking bass, piano, sax, vibes, brushes) that has been playing without pause for over a hundred years. On the platforms they are hot, screaming, full of complaint. This is the music inside the noise.
- List Animals Until Failure - You have limited time, but get more time for each animal listed. When the timer runs out, that's game over.
- GovDeals - Database of surplus gov auction sales, deep temptations.
- Interactive pointer - I'd rather not give too much away and have someone else point you in the right direction.
- Music for Programming - A collection of music that works well with programming tasks, click around and try out a few tracks.
- Artemis II Photo Timeline - A collection of photos from NASA of the ARTEMIS II mission.
- Airport Simulator - Simple web-based sim where you direct incoming aircraft onto safe landing trajectories.
